ARTIST STATEMENT

I create ink drawings and works on paper made mostly by the systematic accumulation of dots and lines.

The dot with its irregular and imperfect circular shape is the single most basic form that can be drawn. In 3D, the dot becomes a sphere, a form that is fundamental to our understanding of the universe, as it is at the core of all systems from nuclei to stars.

In my work, dots act as building blocks, always impermanent and subject to change. From micro to macro, they can represent tiny dust particles or galaxies moving through space, weaving together infinitely.

Lines are dots in movement; they divide, delineate, connect and contain space. They become structures or frameworks upon which new states of matter are created.

From darkness to light, the dots and lines intertwine to produce patterns and moments of order: diagrams of a sort that reflect on the origin, evolution and, ultimately, the essence and fate of the Universe. This is the focus of my work.
